Pros

Employee benefits, including discounts at hundreds of stores Maternity pay is fairly decent Company sick pay Good work/life balance

Cons

Store colleagues currently need to earn approximately £190 per month in commission (roughly £11k worth of sales) just to reach minimum wage on top of their £11.05 base rate. In lower-turnover stores, this means 40 to 60% of commission effectively goes towards topping up to minimum wage. There is little incentive to exceed targets when the company will top up pay regardless. Store managers’ bonuses have effectively been reduced. Despite running a well-performing store and receiving an £860 salary increase last year, my overall earnings are now approximately £2,000 less than the previous year. During the bonus trial, proposed payments were reduced without clear communication. There was a divisional restructure last year, with only a ten-minute heads up to store managers. There are limited internal progression opportunities, even after completing the company’s leadership programme. Communication is often unclear and inconsistent. For example, Tempur promotions have changed multiple times within a single week, making it difficult to provide accurate quotes to customers and creating unnecessary confusion. Long-established stores with strong customer bases appear overlooked while significant investment is directed towards opening new locations. The most recent engagement survey results were not meaningfully addressed, leading to the perception that employee feedback is not acted upon. Overall morale is low, and many employees feel undervalued.

Hello, Thank you for your review and taking the time to leave some feedback. We want to make sure that everyone feels recognised and rewarded for the work they do. Our pay will never go below the National Living Wage, and to ensure we remain competitive, we regularly benchmark our total reward and benefits package against other retailers. We continue to review our pay structures and benefits, making investments where we can. Internal communication is also very important to us; we host regular Listening Lounges across the business to hear directly from colleagues and understand how we can better support them in delivering for our customers. We appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind as we continue to develop how we support and engage our teams across the business. We encourage you to discuss any of your concerns or queries with your line manager or a member of the People Team so we can continue to support you.
