Pros
Benefits are great Duke name Ability to work with variety of people throughout Duke on projects Huge growth opportunity, even if you are a bad leader, if you know the right people
Cons
Toxic work environment Turnover in my department - I wish I had asked more questions during interview and read the Glassdoor reviews about strategic planning. Turns out there has been over 200% turnover since the current leader was hired in planning. Almost every month it seems a new person joins the team, and no one stays longer than 2 years. But apparently that isn’t important because the leader was just promoted to an executive leadership position. Management benefits at our expense. We work under extreme conditions with high and unrealistic expectations. But we have to put on a happy face when we meet with people outside the department so management looks good and gets all the praise. I have heard so many people talking about the ineffectiveness of the strategic planning team and its management. Yet Duke executive leadership promotes and rewards mismanagement.
