It’s always easier to complain about what hasn’t worked than to acknowledge what has. Like any startup, there have been bumps along the way. Like any success story, there have been those on the sidelines that can’t bring themselves to cheer for the winning team. Like any change in leadership, ours did not come without ruffling some feathers. As our founder always said, “what got us where we are won’t get us where we’re going,” and those words still ring true at Dutchie today. What I will say is this: we’re building something monumental, and we’re not stopping. No company that scales this fast does so without the need for some level of course correction, and course correct we did. Some of those adjustments meant losing respected colleagues and downsizing hard working, successful teams (my own included). Having been at Dutchie through it all I can say that we lost some wonderful people, and also, that we couldn’t have achieved the agility we have today without rethinking our people strategy. We are laser focused on our mission, and at each fork in the road we continue making choices to drive it forward.
