Pros

Autonomy and independence in management.

Cons

EBMC has one of the worse compensation and benefits package in the industry. It is appalling. They charge employees hundreds of dollars a month for subpar health insurance, do not even pay for spouses or dependents at all, provide no matching 401(k), measly vacation benefits, and no other real benefits to speak of. HR is fairly inept, and are constantly making mistakes on all kinds of things such as billable hours to accounts, benefits deductions, etc., and are constantly changing service providers for benefits and internal corporate systems in search of the cheapest products which results in inefficiency, mistakes, and frustrations among employees. As such, the company attracts sub-par talent and does a poor job of attracting and retaining highly talented or motivated individuals. EBMC prides itself on being a family company, however, the only family that this company cares about is their own. Leadership are all members of the same family or part of their inner circle. Employee dissatisfaction and morale is very low across the board and many employees stay at the company merely because they are not highly employable or are scared to leave. The company slogan is "exceptional service provided by extraordinary people", but it should be "mediocre service provided by mediocre people". Lastly, upper management does a horrible job of investing and growing employees. Overall, one of the worse places I have ever worked.
