Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience with ELR Media Group, and we wish you would have brought it to our attention while you were still interning with us.
Our interns never participate in any form of "handyman" work. We have a cleaning staff that comes in to clean the entire space, including the kitchen. With that being said, each team member is responsible for the maintenance of their work space(s) and is required to keep them organized and clean at all times. We also expect people to clean up their own food and wash any dishes they use.
Because we often have appointments and meetings in our space, we work together to make sure that all common areas of the office are kept to the highest standards - this includes the organization of all client sample sets. The PR team receives a high volume of requests daily - so the upkeep of these sample sets is vital to our process. We will also have interns participate by helping pull samples for upcoming stories, and we will go through their selection to choose what items will be best based on the specifications we received. This should be seen as a learning opportunity and nothing else.
ELR Media Group compensates all of their interns with school credit, which is brought to the interviewee's attention several times during the hiring process. We are a small company, which is something we pride ourselves on. The team works together on a number of projects and we are very collaborative in general, but sometimes this type of environment is not for everyone.
In the instances where we feel that an intern or employee may not be benefitting enough from the role they filled, we will do our best to adjust their responsibilities to align with their professional and educational goals. However, each person that joins our team plays a pivotal roll in the agency, and in the rare times those goals do not align with the work we are producing as a creative agency, we will respectfully ask to go our separate ways.
