A good run, but the wheels fell off - Grocery Stocker Eataly Employee Review

Pros

Decent employee discount, learned a lot

Cons

I was hired before the Boston store opened. For two years my managers were amazing, my team and I had input and our work and feedback were valued. I really thought I had a career here. The awesome managers moved on, I was denied advancement and then the new team manager broke their own hiring policies by bringing in a supervisor with no actual experience (my team and I knew more than this person did). This supervisor would continually talk down to me and treat me as if I didn't know what I was doing half the time; I was rarely allowed to work independently (when I did is when stuff got DONE, just give me instructions and let me work). I got one "annual" review in three years which was the weirdest review I'd ever had; I was labeled "unfocused" with no proof. Despite grocery being considered essential in my state, we were furloughed in March, screwed when they took PPP money, strung along for three more months and fired via email in August.

Pros

Amazing managers who listen and care for their employees

Cons

None! Best job I’ve had and would work there 100% hands down if I still lived in the city. It gets insanely busy but it comes with the territory

Pros

Decent community and work environment, huge team so you’ll definitely meet some interesting people. Good for gaining early experience in the restaurant industry

Cons

Volume is unpredictable and inconsistent, so you have to be prepared to either be in the weeds with minimal assistance from management or ready to idle for 3 hours with two walk-ins per hour and no reservations. And the tourists are exceptionally insufferable here
