Pros
Fun to go to events, can meet some cool people. Coworkers tend to be pretty nice and encourage an environment that works together rather than fights for leads
Cons
Favoritism between employees. Some employees do not have to memorize the script or get any sort of leads or appointments and yet be praised, while others are constantly criticized. Most of the events are in Naperville or Joliet so be prepared for a drive if you don’t live close to the office (and even then you may have an hour drive). Also you learn that the manager always says she will go to an event to “help” and 99% of the time she will not show up. I can count minimum 5 events that she said she would be at, and she never showed up. This goes for myself as well as other current and former employees. Schedules get changed within 48 hours commonly. The turnover rate is extremely high so people usually end up never coming back after the first 2 hour office training. Which means they get added to the schedule, then taken off immediately which then causes the schedule to change. Also, you and your other promoters are in charge of supplies. So if they ask you to drop all of yours off for someone else, you have make sure the person you are working with has supplies or they will make you drive to the office to pick some up. It is a lot of asking questions and it’s pretty often one thing will be missed because they don’t have enough sets for everyone to have. They will send you to events that are dead. Practically no one there, and still expect you to get at minimum 1 appointment and some leads (unless the manager likes you then it doesn’t matter!) Apparently some of the events are free to vend at but they will tell you that they all cost thousands of dollars. No, some of them cost nothing because no one goes to them. And yet you’re to blame for the crowd right? Another thing is that they make it seem like this job has room for growth. It does not. They will promise you opportunities and then never provide you the means to do them. Forget about doing anything besides free labor to keep them organized and listening to thier empty promises.
