Pros

They offer unlimited paid time off.

Cons

This place is by far the worst placed I have ever worked, and this is coming from a person who was considered a top performer. Engine has the highest turnover of employees I have ever seen, from CROs down to Account Executives. In my 3+ years at the company, I have witnessed 4 major layoffs and countless people quitting, which probably calculates out to about 150 people I have seen leave the company. The CEO is all over the place and doesn’t know what he wants, especially because he just took on investors and is feeling the pressure. This led him to increase the goals and ask from his reps to the point where you can’t make any money because the goals are unrealistic and unattainable. He constantly uses the excuse, “we are a startup within a startup,” even though the company has been around since 2016. Like brother, you don’t have your stuff together and keep using the “startup” as an excuse. You think things get better for a second, then they get worse. I have made less and less year over year even though I was always hitting and exceeding my quota. If you want to make real money in sales, don't work here. If you want to work for a company where you can grow and have job security, don't work here. The amount of turnover at this company, from CROs down to AEs, will tell you everything you need to know. They also requested employees to write positive Glassdoor reviews, by the way. I was there when they asked everyone to take 5 minutes to reflect about their experience at Engine. Go look at reviews on RepVue or go on LinkedIn and message someone who worked here previously—they will tell you the truth. To conclude this review: • Bad management • Lack of career growth: The sales role is not transferable to many other roles. • Goals increase (doubled) while pay stays exactly the same. • Excuses of "we are a startup" when things go bad. • The product is not good: We are predatory to businesses and hotels. Do your due diligence before even considering working here, please!

Pros

Great leadership and work culture

Cons

Commission could be a little better. Also lots of changes but that’s expected with a company that’s still in the startup phase

Pros

Competitive base salary with commission potential when goals are met. Benefits were solid overall, and the office itself was nice. Weekly catered lunches were also a nice perk, and there were some good coworkers on the team.

Cons

Despite sometimes being positioned as hybrid, the role was fully in-office. The training program (“STP”) felt more fear-based than developmental, with constant pressure and the feeling that your job could be taken away at any point if expectations were not followed exactly. Quotas initially appeared manageable but ramped up very quickly. The structure also made it difficult to recover from a bad month because performance was tied to both monthly bookings and monthly revenue, with revenue goals heavily dependent on deals closed in previous months. Falling behind once often created a snowball effect that was nearly impossible to overcome. Lead quality and distribution were another challenge, as many leads were heavily overcalled. This made prospecting increasingly difficult and reduced the effectiveness of outreach. The office culture often felt immature and overly “bro culture” driven. Expectations changed frequently and were not always clearly communicated. There was also an expectation to work beyond normal hours, especially during training, which contributed to burnout early on. Additionally, there did not seem to be a real focus on employee development or real improvement plans. If performance slipped, employees were often simply let go rather than meaningfully coached through improvement.
