Cons
Ensono is the result of the Axciom divesture of managed services. Ensono then acquired companies to "build" itself, first with acquisitions in the UK, then the US. Plenty of history is available on the internet. I was an employee of an acquired firm. During Ensono's "due diligence," comments from their senior leadership painted a picture of their business acumen. While touring one of our facilities, "Wow! Look at all this big iron, very impressive!" This is very telling when that "big iron" is ancient garbage that you simply haven't sent to the scrap heap, yet they thought it was amazing. They also didn't ask for, and actively ignored, our refresh plans that were already years behind. Much of our assets were already eol and eos, yet they were eager to buy. Skip ahead to deal signing and the year afterward, where they were "surprised" that we didn't have maintenance on so much equipment and that they would have to buy new to replace, and quickly the money crunch began. Hey! What about all that "due diligence?!?!" The top of the org is clueless as to technology and how it operates. A key piece of their model is to offshore as much as possible, to "reduce expense." The remaining onshore employees expend all their time doing common tasks to correct the offshore mistakes. ZERO repeatable processes, and ZERO desire to create them. Every customer is a snowflake. The company I had worked for created standardized environments where new customers could be rapidly deployed with very little effort - not the case with Ensono. From software licensing to product management, there is no consistency, awareness of dependency, or actual effort to reduce cost, increase efficiency, increase revenue. It is the standard model of cut experienced employees and replace with offshore - you get what you pay for. As an IaaS and PaaS MSP, typically the business wants to differentiate themselves by any way possible, which is not the case here. Employees are specifically told to not develop IP, but rather to try and cobble together off the shelf products. In this vein, lower cost options that actually provide the required results are also not chosen, with many significant technology choices being made at the C level, with no understanding of the operational impact (or the lost margin due to those choices.) "Delighting" our customers was the greatest sham. The real goal was to string along any item as long as possible to hope that the issue went away. Todays global MSP should embrace a remote workforce, and Ensono does not. They want you in the office, which is an open concept where most of the employees where headphones to try and block noise as well as compete for the few closed door spaces to make calls. Participating in meetings is a mutefest, as the people in the office have excessive background noise levels. I spent several weeks in the Chicago office and despised it from day 1. Many of the employees I interacted with also mentioned it was less than optimal - but that's what management wanted. There is an excessive amount of "good ole boys club" happening with ex-Savvis employees dominating the management tier. If you don't agree with their mindset, you are out. I personally feel sorry for the customers they have. I also felt that way in the previous company. It's sad that so many major corporations actually have no idea of how IT impacts their business, or how much they waste on outsourcing their IT departments. A significant reduction in personnel occurred March-April of 2020, with a significant portion being the recently acquired companies remote work force. Yet openings in India are at an all time high. Having worked for many firms over the years that had a significant offshore management component, I thought that the all US based C level might be different, but instead found they were even worse. Ensono has many groups, reporting to various C level members, and often each one of those had some sort of empire building going on, which greatly hampered cross team operations. You'd have thought they had 100k employees, but prior to acquiring our 2k, they were just at 1k. In short, if you just want to be a button pusher, in the office, doing brainless work, then this is the place for you. On the other hand, if you want to make something better and be proud of your contributions, move on.
