Pros
Flexibility of schedule and independence to build your own business.
Cons
Equis Financial is an Network Marketing Organization scam hiding under a IMO (Insurance Marketing Organization) title. If you sign an 1099 subcontractor agreement and get contracted through them with the insurance carriers, they will NOT LET YOU LEAVE. They will not give you a signed release even if you have a valid reason for parting ways with their company (not too mention you are independent and not an employee). You will have to wait 6 months and not write any policies with all carriers you want to switch over to an new better IMO. Even though you are an independent contractor and let alone the fact that you are commission only paid by the insurance carriers, Equis Financial will not give you a release and will punish you for leaving. The opportunity sounds great when they sell it to you. They say they have tons of leads. INCORRECT. In my particular county they had 0 new leads for a 2 month period. They tell you to travel to where the leads are but when you're new and have no experience or money to do that you're out of luck. They claim to have the best training in the industry. NOT TRUE!!!! They claim to have they highest comp in the industry. LIE!!! They push for everyone to go to conference but you are required to pay for your event tickets which cost over a hundred dollars per person. RIP OFF!!! I found another IMO that pays higher commission starting and thoroughly continues to train their agents. Not to mention their agents are producing 3 times as much as the best agents with Equis Financial. Plus their conference tickets are free! There are a lot of life IMO's out there. Do your research. Equis Financial probably won't be around in the next 2-3 years after their period scheme tumbles. In conclusion, Equis Financial is a Network Marketing Organization. The heads of the company spend most of their time focused on promoting recruiting and building a team as fast as possible, while getting money through agents that buy marketing materials, websites, leads and write policies on themselves and family members. They tell you to find people in your warm market to recruit, or pay hundreds of dollars a month on ads to find people to join your team. Yet, for a company that calls themselves the 'Agent's company" there is only very basic training help for agents out there. Now, this could be a good opportunity for some if you are looking to join a Network Marketing Organization or your lucky and they have an abundance of leads in your area but if you are an actual insurance professional there are better opportunities out there. I would stay clear of Equis Financial because once you join, they won't let you go!
