Pros
Great, creative people in the lower ranks. Some cool benefits like free lunches and team outings. Pay is just ok.
Cons
Up until September 2020 this organization was called “Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC)”, so if you want an accurate review of this company also read the reviews there. Senior leadership cultivates a very toxic work environment. I’m sure many will now say that all the previous bad reviews were other people’s problems during the “EEDC” era, and that’s untrue. Some of the most toxic leaders are still around. Raises and promotions are promised regularly but often pushed back or never given at all. Team targets and benchmarking are constantly changed so it’s hard to ever properly hit your targets or know if you’re doing an effective job. This will also be used against you when senior leadership needs someone to blame for project failures. Many high level projects are given to the lowest ranking staff and then passed off as if the director or VP did all the work. Many leaders blur professional boundaries and attempt to be too chummy with staff but this often is used to get gossip or provide a false sense of security. This place hemorrhages money. Many VPs are not held accountable and if they are fired for good cause it is often covered up (even when they give interviews to the news about it!) because they don’t want people to find out just how long these people got away with it for. The same goes for many other types of inappropriate behavior.
