Pros
-Amazing and very talented people doing the work. -Ability to attend unique events. -Promoting and marketing Edmonton was enjoyable. -Working with local businesses provided great opportunities to the community.
Cons
-Senior Leaders are completely out of touch with staff. Many did not live in the city and would only come for 'fun' events or when obligated to, and would be flown in and put up at a nice hotel. Being the Destination Management & Marketing Organization for Edmonton, this was a very bad look to the internal team and external clients. -Compensation was always on the low end of the salary range provided regardless of experience and raises were often promised but never followed through with to the full extent. -The organization's budget was not properly managed which led to many vacancies not being filled and others having to pick up the work. -Many of the staff are overworked with little to no support, leading to stress, fatigue, and many departures. -Lots of contractors are on payroll at high costs to fill gaps in employment.
