Pros

Working at Expressable has been one of the most fulfilling professional experiences I’ve had. I genuinely wish I had found this company sooner. For years, I searched for a workplace that valued growth, innovation, and a positive culture and Expressable is exactly that. They don't just talk about their mission and values, they live by them every day. What sets Expressable apart is their unwavering commitment to maximizing the potential of everyone involved: the therapists, families, staff, and most importantly, the clients we serve. The culture is positive, uplifting, and supportive. They give you the tools and trust you need to succeed including outstanding resources, exceptional technology, and a flexible remote model that respects your time and expertise. As a speech-language pathologist, I often felt overwhelmed in previous settings expected to be a generalist with high productivity and limited support. Expressable is a breath of fresh air. They thoughtfully match you with clients aligned to your expertise and areas of competence. The leadership team genuinely cares about both the therapists and the families we serve. Their commitment to growth, innovation, and transparency is unmatched. Expressable gives you all the tools you need to succeed: advanced technology that simplifies documentation, detailed templates, an extensive library of clinical resources, and incredible mentorship opportunities. Their systems drastically reduce administrative burden while actively supporting clinical growth. You’re never left on your own even in a fully remote model, help is always just a message away. Expressable equips you with everything you need to succeed in a teletherapy setting. They provide the necessary technology, including a laptop and iPad, so you're fully set up to deliver high-quality care from day one. In addition, they offer access to memberships and platforms that enhance virtual therapy, making sessions more engaging and efficient. Therapists are also given a wide range of standardized and informal assessments to accurately evaluate and support each client’s needs all without having to pay out of pocket. Their investment in both technology and clinical tools shows their commitment to setting therapists up for success. Communication is transparent and thoughtful. From monthly CEO- and HR-led meetings to weekly open Q&As, weekly quality documentation drop-ins, monthly 1-hour CEUs, biweekly meetings with your clinical supervisor, tech support, weekly updates, and community bonding opportunities, you feel connected, heard, and empowered—even while working remotely. What I appreciate most about Expressable is how highly organized their systems are. They provide structured templates for reports and leverage AI-integrated tools for evaluations and documentation, including features that can record sessions and generate draft treatment notes, helping reduce cognitive load and streamline paperwork. During treatment documentation, built-in dropdown options for strategies and homework assignments further support efficiency and consistency. They also offer comprehensive “Guru cards,” which serve as quick-reference guides to navigate a wide range of clinical and administrative situations—such as company updates, the discharge process, use of interpreter services for clinical care, SLP treatment codes, and clinical best practice recommendations. These resources ensure that clinicians have clear, accessible guidance at their fingertips. Importantly, if a specific situation remains unclear, there is always strong support available. Team members and supervisors are readily accessible and collaborative, ensuring that you are never left uncertain and always have guidance when navigating complex situations. In many of my previous roles, expectations, guidelines, onboarding processes, and resources were often unclear or inconsistent. Training was minimal, communication was limited, and there was a general “sink or swim” approach that left clinicians to navigate responsibilities on their own. In contrast, from the moment you begin at Expressable, you are closely supported through a structured and intentional onboarding experience. Their onboarding process is hands-down the best I’ve ever experienced—you are guided every step of the way, with clear expectations, comprehensive training, and ongoing support, ensuring you are never left to figure things out alone. I’m consistently blown away by the community of therapists. The shared Slack channels are full of support, clinical insight, and encouragement not competition. Whether you’re navigating a tricky case or seeking mentorship in a new specialty area, someone is always there to help. Expressable truly fosters a culture of collaboration and care. The company offers competitive (and flexible!) pay structures, a rare find in this field. Their commitment to growth is evident in everything they do, including frequent surveys that lead to real, meaningful change. They’re always asking, “How can we do better?” and they follow through. Lastly, I appreciate that Expressable trusts its therapists. There's no micromanagement, just support, trust, and a shared commitment to providing exceptional care. Therapists are given the autonomy to make clinical decisions based on their expertise and the individual needs of their clients. It’s rare to find a place that balances heart and operational excellence so well. I often describe Expressable as the Chick-fil-A of outpatient rehab rooted in great values, stellar systems, and service with heart. No company is perfect but Expressable comes remarkably close. Their consistency, integrity, and genuine care for both therapists and families set a new standard in our field. If you’re a speech-language pathologist looking for a place where you’re supported, valued, and given the tools to thrive — this is it. I’m proud to be part of a team that’s truly transforming how speech therapy is delivered. Expressable strives every day to be the best place to work and grow. And honestly? They’re doing an incredible job.

Cons

One challenge is the three-day turnaround requirement for notes and reports, which can feel demanding given the volume of patients, evaluations, re-evaluations, and weekly progress updates. With back-to-back sessions, it can be difficult to find dedicated time for documentation, and having a set documentation block would be beneficial. That said, this is balanced by the strong support system in place—supervisors not only are consistently understanding and flexible when documentation is not completed on time, but also actively help you navigate your documentation and provide support to ensure notes are completed. Additionally, the company is continually refining its templates and enhancing AI tools to further streamline documentation and reduce clinician workload. Another consideration is work–life balance in a full-time role, which I personally found challenging at times. However, the company offers part-time opportunities, which proved to be a more realistic and sustainable option for me. I truly appreciate that this flexibility is available to therapists, as transitioning to a part-time position has allowed me to maintain a healthier and more manageable work–life balance.

Pros

Ever since I've started, I've really enjoyed having the opportunity to work from home. The flexibility of being able to complete work without having to worry about a commute or distractions from an in person setting have been really helpful for my productivity. This job has also been some of the best benefits I've had in the healthcare field. I think Expressable really makes an effort to be innovative and to grow as a company. One of the things I've appreciated is that when concerns are made, there's an active plan to resolve the concern. Engagement surveys allow the opportunity to note where you feel the company falls short and then those concerns are met with action plans to support therapists and the company as a whole.

Cons

For some, this setting may be challenging as it is fast paced and there's a lot of responsibility to independently keep up with product updates that come with working for a start-up. Being tech savvy is necessary at this company. Expressable is also still getting it's footing with streamlining insurance processes and communication with clients from the admin side. This can be frustrating at times as being the therapist leaves you somewhere in the middle. You really have to outweigh your pro's and con's. Some days are pretty packed with clients, but I've found it a lot easier to manage from home than in-clinic where it was more challenging to time transitions between pediatric clients.
