Pros

FM generally does the right thing. Using money to fix a problem is never an issue. People are generally pleasant to work with and clients are good partners. The business model really works.

Cons

Things are run like a small business- there does not seem to be a process set up for basic things. A company of this size with a global scale and this amount of revenue should be run a little more efficiently. This is likely due to the fact that there are a lot of people who have only ever worked at this one company their entire lives. Loyalty is great but it creates a groupthink. People are promoted to leadership roles for departments they have zero experience in- which is a huge headache for people who actually have experience and need to explain and get buy in for basic strategies that other organizations have understood. Very much a “boys club” - while they have made some improvements you still need to be charismatic and be able to hold your liquor after meetings. Some people are working tirelessly while others are barely working and it’s very rare someone gets fired, unless it’s for a reason that could be a liability to the company. While salaries are decent they don’t reflect the huge amount of money that the company is making. If you ask for a raise, be ready to have your manager treat it like it’s coming out of their own pockets. Training for managers is nonexistent. Does not seem like anyone is asking employees for feedback on their managers. Favoritism is a bit of thing. Work keeps getting piled up and money is dumped into golf celebrities but there’s never money for more headcount or a raise. Don’t expect your manager to go against something their boss says/asks even if it makes no sense- people try to people please too much and “avoid conflict” in hopes of being promoted but it ends up causing so many unnecessary headaches. There’s too many “yes” men and it’s hurting the growth of the org.

Pros

* Great business model at the foundation * Solid compensation program: Base salary + bonus * Sustained high profitability over the long term * Stable employement * Pension Plan

Cons

* Extremely hierarchical and regimented * Promotions based on favortism rather than true merit. Employees are precategorized and stigmatized on their ability for future career progression. * Extremely focused on metrics and internal objectives. This leads to box checking, cutting corners and bending rules to meet the numbers. * Extremely heavy workload. No work-life balance. * Management doesn't really incorporate employee feedback; they pretend to to check a box. * Quality of job suffers to keep up with quantity. Everything is becoming data driven and the data is often wrong. Enormous pressure to hit a button and accept at face value whatever the system spews out. * Our CEO builds fancy gold plated office buildings that aren't needed and pulled the plug on hybrid work to justify the investment in the real estate.
