Pros
Working in higher education everyone is extremely passionate about what they do and are amazing to work with. Health insurance is great but extremely expensive. 401k match is okay, but there is no vesting period.
Lots of freedom in working remotely. My management did not micromanage me.
Cons
The organization is hectic! The company tried to grow too fast but missed the mark on business processes. Currently going through a reorganization and there is a lot of uncertainty on what the future holds. This is leading to a lot of turnover and lack of vertical growth.
Never had any sort of onboarding. My laptop came on my 2nd or 3rd day of "work." Was then thrown into a contract full time and had to hit the ground running..or in my case sprinting. My first immediate manager never had a 1 on 1 with me the first year and a half I worked there.
Pay is mediocre. Great if your coming from a low paying college or university, but low if your coming from another consulting firm. They also removed their quarterly bonuses and said they would take into account cost of living during merit reviews. Gave us laughable raises, I'm probably going to make less this year than last year even though I had 40+ hours a week of utilization.
