Pros
Pay is GREAT - a massive improvement from what other studios seem to get in Brisbane/Australia. Not that I've needed to use it, but the pay system is entirely transparent. Extremely cooperative and understanding of personal needs, including health, family issues, and your own personal holidays. Flexible work-from-home arrangements with additional compensation for using your own equipment, or a new machine can be provided for you. Inclusive and drama-free, as far as I can tell at the very least. Relatively small studio at the moment, everyone operates over a few Discord voice channels. Overtime is heavily avoided, but if you do provide overtime, the process for being paid is seamless. No obfuscation of holiday hours either, everything is easy to access and you're never left in the dark. Local Unreal Engine events like Unreal Fest are paid for as your work for the day, if you choose to attend. As much as there are dream projects out there at other studios that I'd love to be apart of some day, I fear that no other studio I work for will treat me as well as Fika has. Even if the work gets stale, it's hard to say no to such good conditions.
Cons
Projects are a bit boring, I can't blame artists for feeling unmotivated at times. If the team were given the chance to create something more original or fun, I'm sure it would really lift their spirits. I know this isn't inherently a problem with the management, it's just an unfortunate circumstance at the moment. Teletubbies is cute at first, but gets a bit boring. Work from home isn't for everyone, but it definitely is for me. That being said, sometimes I'd prefer not needing to be on a Discord call for the entire day, as it makes me a bit anxious to be AFK in case someone starts talking to me right as I get up and walk away. But at the same time, I'm not sure how else to provide a collaborative and immediately accessible workplace environment. Also, I don't actually think anyone really cares - everyone is super friendly and understanding of this stuff. Personally my role is quite isolating and I don't feel as if I've gained many meaningful new relationships with my coworkers, but again, I do enjoy working from home and I don't mind too much. I like getting to work on my own and just listen to something in the background uninterrupted. 30 minute lunch break, can be a bit tight to squeeze in without going overtime, but to be fair, no one's stalking you on this. No one will care if you take an extra 5-10 minutes. They probably won't even notice. Company was recently acquired by Eternus Global (or Eternus Intelligence), and while they seem mostly unchanged so far, this could potentially cause problems down the line. I don't know anything about Eternus, but the name certainly sounds like an evil corporation from some sci-fi dystopia. Just keep that in mind (but it's probably fine).
