The sales teams are given very little respect for the efforts they provide and the value they bring to the company. Most of the sales teams are highly educated but are treated as if they are in high school. Bullying and intimidation by members of other departments seem to be the rule here rather than the exception. Emails with untrue information are circulated by others in order to malign the work or reputation of the sales teams. Many of these people have no problem shouting at them either.
The managers of the sales teams seem to ignore what's going on even after these things are brought to their attention. Even when proof is provided, or the managers witnessed the event, they say nothing.
As a result of such an environment, there's a revolving door for the sales people at Porex. Since starting at Porex, over 5 sales people have left Porex. This will continue if the culture doesn't change. The cost of personnel acquisition must be very high here due to the learning curve required to work at Porex. Yet, there is nothing done to change the bullying culture that is prevalent.
After I brought these issues to my manager's attention, he simply ignored them. Since he ignored me I consulted with my mentors for advice to improve my situation. I tried all of their suggestions to improve my situation with limited success. Though my mentors provided many tactics, their ultimate advice was to leave the company; which is what I ultimately did.
My advice to prospective employees in the sales position is to stay away unless you need a paycheck.
