Financial Wellness Group

Is this your company?

Could be the worst job I have had. I didn't listen to other Glassdoor reviews I read before starting and I should have. - Debt Advice Specialist Financial Wellness Group Employee Review

Pros

The money is alright for the industry and I met some lovely people through working there.

Cons

The money being alright is not worth the detriment working here will have on your mental health and ability to have a life outside work. Had a long external training period just to be told to 'forget everything we'd learned' as it wouldn't be used. Had a couple of weeks max to learn the actual role (which is quite long for FWG training I found out) and then thrown in. Processes change on an almost daily basis and if you miss any meeting as stuck on the phone etc. you're rarely caught up. Shift patterns and entire roles are changed on a moment's notice and with no choice given in the matter. Some management are unprofessional and often rude and outright unsupportive. The culture matches this, there is no communication or welcome to the company from upper management/executives, you're very much made to feel like a bum on a seat/debt advice robot. They insist the department isn't understaffed, meanwhile other line managers are taking calls rather than supporting advisors and staff are taking hour long calls back to back for long stretches with no time to complete lengthy admin. They are then expected to remember several clients to complete this accurately, which is difficult at best and also complete this after their shift ends. The company have recently had funding from MAPS in which they have completely overestimated how much work is reasonable from their people, who are extremely competent but still human beings. They introduce new systems and ways of working with very little training/ implementation time. They completely changed the shift patterns with the absolute bare minimum notice just to change this again so it's impossible to properly plan your life around your hours without the potential this will completely change and little to no flexibility given. The only time I felt noticed for my hard work by the dept manager was when I told them I was leaving due to the negative impact the job had on me and they offered more money and to 'look at' my hours as they 'really wanted to keep me'. But it all felt to their own benefit rather than actually listening to the effect this job had on me as a person and I knew I wouldn't actually receive any extra support beyond a day or so.

Pros

the nice colleagues/friends you will make.

Cons

looking for a role that will drive you to insanity, leave you crying every few months and affect your mental health? Look no further!!! Financial Wellness Group (AKA Money Wellness - also check their Glassdoor reviews) will be sure to make you feel that way! From the horrible lack of support given to advisors, the extreme toxic micromanaging environment and the “fake” niceness senior leaders and certain team leaders give you is extremely disgusting. They will pretend to be your friend just for them to kick you off the curb when issues arise. A certain senior team leader and other junior team leaders were made aware when another department was going to be laid off and none of the ex-colleagues were given a proper departure. It was filled with weeks of oblivion, lack of accountability, empathy and decency on the part of a certain junior team leader, in which they did nothing but hid in one corner when the department was going through redundancy and was in the office for the last day but didn’t acknowledge anybody. They have proven time and time again that they treat their staff like replaceable figurines and blatantly show the “you are just a number” mentality. Very questionable practises being shown and really makes you wonder if the company is here to help people or just gain money from other’s suffering. Very disgusting! DO NOT WORK HERE!

Pros

If you like to be micromanaged and treated like a child then it’s the perfect place to work. But Literally no pros at all I’m not even joking, it’s in the middle of nowhere too so it’s not like you could have things to do on lunch or on a break.

Cons

Everything is grim and lifeless. The level of micromanagement is insane, I’ve never experienced something like it & this company is BY FAR the worst company I’ve worked for and to be honest, it’s the only company I’ve not enjoyed working in! The job description didn’t match the actual role and it’s a glorified call centre but the worst call centre imaginable. Constantly the team leaders will be sending in your results into a group chat every hour for everyone to see and they’re EXTREMELY snide and two-faced. I genuinely believe they have no empathy whatsoever it’s no surprise that this company has a very high turnover and people don’t stay there for more than 2 years. Halfway through the day they’ll complain if your call time is too long with customers but then when you change that… the next minute they’ll complain saying your call times are too short?! Constantly monitoring you like a hawk, the only place I’d expect micromanaging is in school of course but with these lot it’s even 100X more I’ve honestly never experienced something like this. Lastly this company goes by the name “Money wellness” now so if you get a job offer by this company THINK TWICE.
