Opportunity to Help Abused Children - Child Advocate Manager Florida Guardian ad Litem Program Employee Review

Pros

Feel good job, meet lots of new people and hopefully make changes for the children that your team represents.

Cons

Instead of being legal professionals, most current employees, especially management are former DCF social workers. So, keeping tabs on the Department of Children and Families is lessened, because we were forced to agree with everything that they did, right or wrong, thus making the former great organization just a duplication of efforts.

Pros

For the most part, the coworkers are lovely. The benefits are also really good. The hours are very flexible and there is a lot of time off.

Cons

The pay is abysmal, especially for non-senior attorneys. Head office is constantly adding more things to our plate. The work is emotionally taxing and the community partners are constantly dropping the ball, which further increases the pressure on GAL staff.
