Pros

Overtime, untimed breaks, traumabonded coworkers. When searching for pros about FSNSAR, there are absolutely little to none. Management allows techs to take 1 hour - 1.5 hour lunches, several breaks at a time, with no repercussions, so that’s a plus for many who don’t like to work.

Cons

Incompetent management and supervisor allowing and promoting an unsafe, dirty, and toxic work environment. The supervisor thrives on running employees into the ground, assigning project after project with unrealistic expectations of techs working through all breaks including lunch. There is no air of respect or rapport among management and you can expect no growth or monetary raise, but duties and responsibilities will increase tenfold upon hire. Management and leadership will do anything they can to hinder a technicians growth, it appears they fear technicians either gaining skill and leaving FSNS or gaining more skill and knowledge than them. During my time working there, I saw one coworker suffer an heart attack and one unfortunately passed from an infection contracted at work, since they encourage all employees to work while having COVID and other contagious illnesses. They promised one of my coworkers a raise, six months later gave everyone a raise except that coworker, and they then fired her when they questioned it. Each summer, the air conditioner goes out and technicians are working in a 95 degree room dressed in complete PPE, with bacteria growing everywhere because there is no time to clean/sanitize with how many projects technicians are slammed with. Management only fixes the air when technicians threaten to quit or report them. They have a nice, new lab that will surely turn into another one big, smelly OSHA violation. When technicians are hurt on the job because everyone is forced to rush their movements, they are discouraged from seeking medical attention. Technicians quit in groups and management does not hire more techs to replace their positions, so current employees are taking on a large amount of additional workload. There is absolutely no reason anyone in science should ever seek employment through this company, they have unfit individuals in management/supervisor roles that will not fight for your well-being as their employee. If you work here, expect to remain complacent for years upon end. This is the most unprofessional position I’ve ever maintained.

Pros

Some growth opportunities available depending on location / current lab needs.

Cons

Since it’s part of certified group, upper management does not understand the individual needs of each lab enough to effectively run things. Mandatory overtime at most locations. Not a lot of explanation of how to do certain things or why they are done. Poor wages and terrible health insurance.
