Pros
I started my career at Foster Klima & Co. as an intern during my last year at the Carlson School of Management in 2014. Towards the end of the internship I explored a handful of options with other financial firms, small and large. What differentiated FK & Co. from other firms was the supportive and well-seasoned professionals who were always willing to lend a helping hand and offer advice. I truly appreciated the community support from very experienced advisors (a majority of them 15+ years in the industry). Management, administration, and staff have all been instrumental in catering to my growth as a new professional. As I attend more and more Continuing Ed. courses and networking events, I am very pleased to hear all the positive feedback and reputation about FK & Co. from other financial professionals in the Minneapolis community.
Cons
As with a fair amount of financial firms, the compensation structure is a somewhat daunting. There's no base salary and it's either feast or famine. However, other companies that offer a base salary usually offers very low commission on the products and services side. So, there's definitely a trade-off. If you have the entrepreneurial spirit, drive, and love helping people, you'd be successful here.
