Pros

Learn about manufacturing for Consumer products industry. Exposure to a lot of great companies. Opportunity to witness first hand very large scale manufacturing. Get to experience first hand how competitive the manufacturing industry is for consumer products in Asia.

Cons

I don't think anyone minds occasional overtime, but this company relies on overtime, which is very unfair to the employee as you work many more hours for the same amount of pay. Equivalently, you are getting paid less. Management can be very stubborn, inflexible, and suppressive. All PTO has to go through approval of General Manager, and most requests are denied, which is ridiculous. This type of thing can be relied on the ethics of the employees, especially overseas staff since they already work so many overtime hours, to control personally. Sometimes, employees would just not take PTO, to avoid the hassle of the application process. A lot of hypocritical policies that you will never learn about until you enter the company. Such as "for every Saturday you work in China, you get a day off aside from your PTO, to go back home." This is not true, because when you go back home you are still required to work at your home-base office. Effectively stealing more time from you to get free work out of you.

Pros

Culturally diverse (but stratified), intense, fascinating, huge opportunities if you can tame chaos. A dynamic environment where team builders have a good shot at creating effective and satisfying change within a limited scope. International travel is possible and probable.

Cons

Razor thin margins, never ending reorganization, poor retention efforts (high turnover), and minimalism in all things, keeps problems from ever really getting fixed. Maturity model has made little progress for a company 10 years into the ODM space.
