Pros

FBD Manchester has a pretty strong culture and the Centre has worked hard to communicate the values to its staff. Social events were well organised with plenty of staff perks. The offices are well equipped and the centre cafeteria is great. There is a strong sense of camaraderie amongst front-line staff. Wages are above market but be expected to work above and beyond for it.

Cons

In order to justify the relocation of certain business services to the new centre it seems certain departments are scrambling to take on work from Global offices. There was a sense that the offices who had work taken from them were not always happy and did not work collaboratively to transfer the work. In addition work was brought through without sufficient resource in the team leading to bigger workloads. From the conversations I had around the business this was the same in IT, HR and the Knowledge Bank. Working long hours may be expected in the legal profession but for lower paid business services it seems unreasonable to have this expectation.
