Pros

- Work/life balance is terrific, everyone is out the door when the clock strikes 6. - Low stress job as far as PR gigs are concerned. - Nice opportunity for junior level staff to get their foot in the door in PR. - Dog-friendly office.

Cons

- Dull clients, difficult to grow media contact base. - Uninspired team, everyone just clocks in and out; job with no passion. - No mentorship or critical thought exerted from upper management.

Pros

I've been here for 14 years for the following reasons: - Leadership demonstrates respect and rewards good work - Great work-life balance; steady 9-6 work day, work from home, understanding that sometimes doctors' appointments and children's concerts pop up during work hours - Supportive team structure; nobody is left out in the cold to handle clients on their own - This company loves new ideas and strategies from employees at every level, even interns! - Very interesting mix of technology accounts, ranging from cybersecurity and fraud prevention to quantum computing, agentic AI, and even audio chipsets

Cons

I've been here long enough to see what kind of people succeed here and which do not: - If you know PR and can get started quickly once you are onboarded to each account (rather than having to have your hand held for months after your start date) you will succeed. This is a small company, so everybody needs to be good at their jobs. - If you talk a big game, but cannot deliver media opportunities or results, you will not last. - If you constantly miss deadlines and don't seem to care, you will not last. - PR can be a very stressful occupation, and clients can sometimes be unreasonably demanding. If you cannot deal with occasional anxiety and pressure, this is not the industry for you. This goes not just for Fusion but for any PR agency.

Pros

There are no pros or reasons for anyone to work here. There’s ton of other companies out there.

Cons

Toxic culture/ lack of strategy and structure: 1. To begin, they’re a group of 8-9 people who’ve known each forever, with a failing roster of exiting clients. All their clients they’ve won are word of mouth. 2. There’s no real strategy behind their comms practices. It’s throw spaghetti at a wall till something sticks. These folks have 0 media relationships. They will ask you to pitch 300-400 reporters a day without a plan - after hours and even on holiday weeks. 3. There’s 0 career growth since there’s nowhere to grow. Same 4 directors who take orders from the partner who’s incredibly awful and rude to the entire team. The team rolls over anyone who’s trying to do anything strategically. Everyone’s attitude now is “just do what partner says and there won’t be issues”. On a team of 3-4 people per account it’s incredibly awful work environment. About 4-5 people have left in this past year due to this persons behavior. Everyone else is aware but refuses to stand up out of fear of their job. 4. The firm has 0 resources, subscriptions, support for actual PR professionals to do their job. 5. Terrible benefits (health insurance and 401k), and PTO and holiday calendar. They don’t match retirement contributions, health insurance is very expensive. 6. Their team is fully aware of their shortcomings and so won’t post any jobs themselves and use recruiters to draw in talent under false pretenses, lying through the interview process and then trapping them.
