Is this your company?

Working here was the biggest mistake I ever made. - Security Officer G4S Secure Solutions Employee Review

Pros

None. There is absolutely nothing positive about G4S. I do not consider this a positive, but it is very easy to get a job here because officers quit every single day.

Cons

Every single thing about G4S is a negative. The pay is barely over minimum wage. Supervisors will purposely try to get to you fired. You will never get a chance to advance because management hires their friends and family for supervisory positions. If you ask for a transfer to another site, you are told that it is not possible. G4S has one of the highest, if not the highest, turnover rate. Most new hires do not stay longer than a year. There is no work-life balance because you are on call 24/7. They expect you to work overtime, but then they cut your hours so you do not get paid for the overtime. They call you on your off days to come in. You cannot join a union to protect yourself from the management, because they will fire you for joining a union. The uniform is awful. It is 100% polyester. I could go on and on about how horrible G4S is. It is truly the worst place I have ever worked. The day I quit was one of the happiest days of my life. I do not list my time at G4S on my resume.

Pros

Onboard training was overly long, but they did pay you for your time. If you did not have previous experience, you were introduced to what G4S expected from you. Each one of my work sites were pleasant, some more than others, but they all had safe working environments.

Cons

G4S should have created a training program for supervisors. It was obviious that some site superviors felt threatened when someone with more experience was put on their team. Supervisors needed to be developed and mentored, not given the position without oversight.
