Pros

Global Reach & Projects: An established international consultancy with an extensive network of skilled professionals and genuinely engaging project opportunities. Collaborative Operational Model: The "One GHD" framework functions effectively in practice, encouraging cross-regional collaboration and shared financial accountability rather than just being corporate marketing. Equity Ownership: The employee-owned business structure provides an excellent vehicle for long-term staff to hold equity in a profitable enterprise. Strong Specific Benefits: Certain Canadian perks, particularly around reproductive healthcare, are top-tier. Professional Development: Excellent opportunities for global networking through fully funded, in-person technical conferences hosted at various international offices.

Cons

Destructive Regional Leadership: The leadership coming from the Regional GM is incredibly poor and sets a toxic tone for the entire operation. Rather than fostering growth, the management style is defined by tension and a complete lack of appreciation—nothing you do is ever good enough, and positive contributions are routinely ignored. Culture of Fear and Backstabbing: The workplace environment is highly unwelcoming and anxiety-inducing. You are constantly forced to watch your back, as corporate politics take precedence over actual work. It is a culture where leadership will happily pull the carpet out from under you, making backstabbing a regular occurrence rather than an anomaly. Integration and Friction: Despite merging with CRA over a decade ago, lingering differences in corporate culture, software systems, and market approaches remain. Efforts to resolve performance issues in Western Canada by importing leadership from the Asia-Pacific region have led to a harsh clash of management styles, making the Vancouver hub feel like a battleground for organizational control. Superficial Corporate Messaging: Corporate communications frequently lean into forced, "toxic" positivity from the upper echelons, which completely masks these systemic workplace issues. Executive announcements paint a flawless picture while teams are abruptly blindsided by reorganizations without prior notice or transparency. High Instability: The office environment feels incredibly volatile due to noticeable patterns of both voluntary departures and sudden layoffs, leading to zero sense of job security. Inequitable Compensation: Unlike competing engineering consultancies that reward senior-level, non-overtime-eligible staff with performance bonuses, this tier of professionals receives no extra compensation or banked time for their surplus hours.

Pros

Good local company and local culture. Fair pay for senior levels.

Cons

Undertakes too many changes in processes, business strategies, organizational structure, etc. at the same time and it is being done constantly. Pay is a bit sub-par for more junior level positions
