Pros

+ Really important mission that the company lives by: "Detect cancer early, when it can be cured". + Building very strong team at all levels of the organization; high integrity and committed to "doing it right" + Great culture, shaped by conscious effort, with lots of opportunity and expectation for people to take initiative + Very cross-disciplinary and collaborative, with strong Science team, Clinical development and Technology/software all working together + Progressive views and actions on diversity and inclusion; very welcoming environment for women at all levels (~50:50 women/men) + Good efforts on transparency and communication - biweekly all-hands meeting with open Q&A, visibility on company and team level objectives ("OKRs") + Great people! I love my colleagues! + Good balance of top down direction/strategy and opportunity for bottom up innovation; I feel like my voice is heard + Love the beautiful new location (in Menlo Park), and "feel" of the office + Thoughtful benefits - "common sense" PTO, maternity/paternity, range of healthcare choices, good cafe/food

Cons

- Location is near Facebook and Dumbarton Bridge (which is a great location!), but can have congested traffic sometimes getting in/out at peak times; I was concerned when we moved there, but it's been better than I expected - Young company, so still putting some processes in place, but trajectory is good - Interview process is rigorous (but very humane, and the result is *great* people)

Pros

- Important mission to detect cancer early with meaningful potential to save lives - Talented employees across teams - employees really care about the work they are doing - Fast-paced work environment with some learning opportunities

Cons

My experience at GRAIL was shaped by consistent cultural and leadership challenges. - Toxic leadership culture: Executive team dynamics can feel immature and relationship-driven rather than professional and data-based. - Limited leadership experience: Several senior leaders appear to lack business and operating experience, which shows in inconsistent business strategy and weak executional discipline. - After two rounds of layoffs, the work-life balance has gotten significantly worse - Favoritism: Advancement does not consistently feel merit-based, with visible patterns of favoritism - Impact on women leaders: Female leaders are often passed over or leave the company for more equitable environments. * HR ineffectiveness: HR is aware of these issues, but has not driven any meaningful change. - Leadership turnover: These dynamics are contributing to ongoing attrition, especially among experienced leaders who have other options.
