Pros
Gibtelecom, while not a great company, does have some positives.
- If you manage to secure a good initial wage, the pension scheme is quite attractive (N.B. to truly receive a good pension, you have to work a number of years for the company e.g. 10+).
- The atmosphere is mostly relaxed with little pressure to complete projects to deadlines. Many depts do not have projects, just BAU tasks.
- The workload for most positions is relatively low with a more than manageable daily/weekly/monthly load.
- The staff are friendly and close, creating a “family atmosphere”.
Cons
Gibtelecom isn’t the worst company you could work for, but it is by far not the best because of the following reasons:
- There is minimal to no innovation with industry leading products being overlooked for their cheaper counterparts. Subpar projects are then implemented with the same results expected.
- Self development appears to be frowned upon, even when all tasks are complete.
- Receiving a promotion or a raise is difficult to say the least, with most of the spoils going to long serving employees regardless of skillset or output.
- The pay structure is flat, with admin clerks being paid as much as technical staff as the business believes everyone is interchangeable. This results in technical staff being massively undervalued and often overshadowed by others in the eyes of the board.
- An unprofessional environment to say the very least. However can be fun at times.
