Pros

GBP is a great company to work for. I’ve been here for 4 years now. In that time I’ve gotten to know leadership pretty well…what a great group of people. Lots of places tell you they are family oriented…but this is the real deal. They care about people in a way I’ve not seen in my 25 years of corporate work. GBP puts a lot of effort into intentional culture…we have tons of food days and corporate events to keep you engaged. Opportunities for professional advancement are there if you want them, and leadership is always listening for ideas to drive improvement. Will (at the helm of the company) is one amazing leader. Although wildly successful, Will is the most humble dude you will ever meet. He will have a beer with you and talk about human things, in a way you’d never expect from someone of his standing. The Kress family are massive supporters of the arts and education, as well as contributing in charitable giving. It’s clear that they understand social responsibility in an era that most companies do not.

Cons

GBP has a very flat culture- not much red tape exists here, intentionally. We are built for speed and flexibility. That can be a challenge for people who are not self-directed or need formal structure.

Pros

The pros of working in the department included decent benefits minus minimal vacation times. Other areas of the company seem decent for culture but not there.

Cons

The management of corporate E&S is dysfunctional at best and abusive in reality. After the novelty of being the new hire wears off, you will face malicious comments and gossip, no positive/constructive feedback, scapegoat blame, extreme micromanagement, constantly changing expectations, etc. There is no psychological safety. Management will not provide resources for career development, protected time off, or flexible arrangements. If you won't quiet quit they will turn up the heat until they have to fire you. I watched others around me stop eating or sleeping and when I tried to talk about how I myself was feeling, a flyer for therapy was placed on my desk in response. So much love was shown to me by the staff at other facilities. Someone even expressed to me "out of everyone in corp E&S, you were the one that listened".
