Pros

I enjoy working for Greystar. They have good processes and policies in place. Techology is good as well. Very large and growing company so there is potential for promotion, transfer etc. I work with a very strong supervisor who is very fair and I have learned from a great deal. I enjoy the client/owner relationship that Greystar encourages. Benefits are good and learning opportunities are pretty good with encouragement to attend industry functions and seminars as well as Greystar facilitated training.

Cons

Very political. It is all who you know! At times the workload expectations are way overboard. E-mail communications after hours are seriously overwhelming. There are mornings that I wake up to 12 e-mails from my supervisor to start my day off to. The work above all else atomosphere is very strong. Recognition feels very politically charged. Bereavment time was recently changed and no longer includes extended family member such as Aunts and Uncles as recognized paid time off to attend services. While I work with a strong supervisor it is challengint to witness other top level managers/supervisors phone it in. This is true with on site managers also. It is highly frustrating to take over a property from a recognized and highly regarded property manager only to find that operations were not to policy or industry standards and end up cleaning up after them.

Pros

-Great networking opportunities. -Good IT support. -Great benifits. -Great employee housing discount and housing opportunities. -Commissions will make your paycheck worth it.

Cons

-Management is broad and impersonal. You may feel like a number. -Your workload can be a lot at times. if you work well under pressure, you'd succeed here. -The leasing season is not year round meaning you will have slow months and you will have good ones. Save in the good months to get through the slow ones. -High turnover. Resilience will get you far. -It's rare that you get your weekends at a company like this.
