Pros

Slightly above average commission and made some good friends. Office dog was also nice to take your mind off work. It helped me to save up enough to take some time off and find a better place.

Cons

Total lack of direction and management. They don't really know what to do to make the company grow so time is spent on weird internal things, pointless meetings, KPI bashing or making podcasts. There is way too much back stabbing and scapegoating whilst also turning a blind eye to some of the underhand things that happen. If you need a job its fine, if you want a career & to develop its the wrong place for you.

I value and consider all feedback so I would like to thank you for your comments and address a couple of the specific issues you raise. One of the things I spend a lot of time thinking about is how I and the business communicate effectively as we grow and adapt to our changing markets. I think we are continuously improving in this area through our team meetings, strategy and planning sessions as well as the day-today sharing of information that happens around the office. But I’m sorry that our efforts did not give you the context you needed to understand the business direction. Second, we have tried hard to build a fun, dynamic and caring environment that works for all our stakeholders – our clients, our candidates and each other. This is really important to me and I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss with you where you feel we miss the mark on this and understand why it wasn’t possible to give this feedback whilst you were with the company or during the leaving process. Thanks again for sharing your opinion so that I and others can reflect on it and think about ways we can adapt and improve. I genuinely care about the company, our team, our clients and candidates and I truly believe we are set up to thrive. Ben Wilson - CEO

Pros

I worked here when there were a lot larger staff numbers as well through the redundancy situation which had been a massive roller coaster with this my first job in recruitment but also an outlook of how things were and are now. An unsteady and uneasy feeling into 2017 I wasn't sure what to expect but had a plan set from January to get on top of my commission again to where I was at the redundancy stage by the end of 2017. I'm well on my way due to to a continued flow of work, no longer jumping internal barriers/politics like before hand and having a lot more of an individual say across my teams recruitment which has been great. Commission structure is clear and rewarding, you know what you need to do and you get out what you put in which keeps me motivated. Office environment is great - dress down policy, open working space, relaxed environment (Dog friendly etc.) Company benefits, healthcare, gym etc.

Cons

Long hours, a given in Recruitment however Out of office trips across the country - eats into your free time and I have often have found myself volunteering due to colleagues making excuses, I feel there should be a recognition on this (Gain annual leave the more you do?) Salary reviews - Working towards increases upon good performance would be an even further motivator.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m delighted you have found the experience of being a ‘Grovelander’ broadly positive. The transition the business has made in 2017 has been huge and I’d like to thank you and the rest of our team for the commitment and hard work you have shown in delivering this. I’m confident it will be rewarding professionally and financially and it will be well deserved! I recognise Work – Life balance is important and so I take on board your comments about the travel. I want our people out spending time with their clients and candidates but I’m sure this can be achieved without sacrificing our personal lives and it is of course only right the work is distributed fairly. If you’d be prepared to have a chat directly I’d welcome your insights on where our current approach goes wrong. Thanks again for the feedback. Ben Wilson - CEO
