Pros

There are some pretty rad people working in the Draper Guitar Center (Musician’s Friend etc) Some pretty great discounts on gear

Cons

I mean it’s pretty obvious from all the reviews that the Draper call center has some serious issues in regards to management. It’s just not a professional environment. There’s an aura of macho bravado from your management, including Human Resources. I mean really, just look at the HR responses to some reviews below “I'm sorry your situation didn't work out but writing reviews like this and carpet bombing emails to anyone at the Support Center who will listen isn't the way to handle your personal situation. Time to move on. I wish you luck on your next gig” Does something like that really seem like appropriate conduct for an HR DEPARTMENT? HR is who you are supposed to turn to with problems you face in the workplace, you won’t get that at GC. That alone should be a clear indicator of the problems this company is facing. It’s a real bummer man, I really wanted to like this place.

Pros

Employee discounts are the biggest reason why people work here, as the discount is really good.

Cons

Your experience working at Guitar Center will largely depend on which store you work at. Some stores have a good management team and employees and are fun to work at. But a lot of stores do not have a qualified management team and they have a staff that is not fun to work with. My location needed a new store manager and instead of promoting the ops manager who knew the store better than anyone else and was with the company for 15+ years working at multiple locations, corporate instead promoted a customer service lead who had been with the company less than 2 years and didn't have management experience. These are the people that corporate decides so often to run their stores.
