Pros
I loved my stores. I loved the people the staff the customers (the ones that weren't old men wearing fisherman's being arrogant old dudes) my favorite thing was to sell musical instruments to kids who wanted to get into music. That was my passion. It made me really happy because it's a very therapeutic hobby and you can go places with it. Being a part of that, was the most amazing experience. Then just having a great team of people to have my back, those vibes are irreplaceable. Now all that for me is gone now. This job went from being a place you can grow with to a place that will strictly hire young people from ages 18-24 and pay them 9 an hour. Ill say now if you want a good first job come work for GC work your way to the top. You'll lose your hair eventually though! All these coorperate managers are bald
Cons
You don't get paid very good at first....And even in management you're underpaid. It's inconsistent as expected with commission based jobs. Towards the end of my career at guitar center, corporate is doing some sort of restructuring plan, and it's just not a good plan. These corporate people don't care about their employees at all. And that's what hurts, because even if I got nearly 31 GCGC apps in a month - 60 percent PCA consistently - hit sales goal - hit AUP goal - i got laid off anyways after 5 years of LOYAL EMPLOYMENT without any warning. I thought I was a valued employee. Maybe to my direct manager and co-workers. But cooperate? What a joke! Yall are making this company miserable!
