As someone mentioned below, if you are a slow memorizer, learning your scripts is a lot of work, and it is a shame you don't get paid for that. To balance that out though, you do have paid learning opportunities when you're learning your script, and you will have to pass a "mock tour" with an experienced guide before you thrown into public tours.
