Pros

It really is a great cause they champion, the education of residents in training to become doctors. Management is trying to improve - there's clearly attempts at going in the right direction. Health insurance benefits are decent.

Cons

Chronically understaffed and undercompensated - very little opportunity for further training or career advancement. Pay is determined by hospital contributions, and the hospitals don't see us as necessary. Work extensively with doctors who view you as sub-human. About half of management tries really hard to compensate for that; the other half also views you as sub-human. No acknowledgement for work well done - but of course if there's a mistake, the onus is squarely on you. What little career advancement is available is almost entirely centered around tenure. If you've been employed less than ten years, don't expect to advance at all. Creativity, effort, and overall quality of work is not honored or respected by management. All they see is your failings, all they will talk about is your failings.

Pros

401K, average salary, health insurance, paid holidays.

Cons

Poor training. Manager will require lower employees to do manager's job, clean & vacuum office, use of your own vehicle to complete manager's tasks using your own money, among other things that are not part of the job you were hired for. Skip lunch. Constant interruptions. Poor HR services.
