Pros

I love, love, love working for Health Catalyst! Their mission, their values, and the way they treat, care about and compensate their employees is fantastic. Truly the best company I ever worked for.

Cons

Although HC touts that they do not micromanage, the upper management that has transitioned with the company seems to be having difficulty adjusting to this new concept and I feel I'm even more micromanaged, especially being told we were to submit to Glassdoor by a certain time frame and let our supervisor know when we did so. This does not seem consistent with the behaviors HC encourages

Thank you for sharing this feedback, and it's great to have you at Health Catalyst. As we shared in the most recent all team member meeting, the decision to submit a review, the content of the review, and the timing of the review, are entirely up to each team member. While we have, for many years, encouraged every team member to consider providing a transparent review of what they appreciate and what could be improved regarding their experience at Health Catalyst, it is entirely up to each team member whether, how and when they choose to participate. We'll continue to reinforce this in our upcoming all team member meetings. We'll also work to live up to the values embedded in the Health Catalyst Way on a daily basis, including transparency and respect. Thank you for your daily work in support of patients and clients. Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
