Pros
I was working from home
Cons
The UR staff working clinical reviews are excellent but their skills are not recognized. The method of documenting reviews by template requires a lengthy inefficient process of synopsizing/editing up to a 200-1000 page medical record then recreating another medical record - very inefficient and time consuming for an initial review. This would be better applied for an appeal – instead using a check list for meeting criteria would work. Because of the chaos of unnecessary lengthy documentation, the template is frequently changed - IRR is informed but the UR nurses are not, but still held accountable for it. The mainframe frequently crashes but UR nurses have to work all hours to access the program to meet their numbers. The management is not open to suggestions. The style and corporate climate is based on fear and intimidation. The atmosphere is very stressful. Interestingly in the middle of this inefficiency management got together to give themselves promotions and raises. I also suggest staff check biweekly automatic deposits as there seem to be irregularities at times. The deductions need to be watched and see if PTO hours are accurate. This is especially important if you leave.
