Pros

Weed and some interesting people.

Cons

You have to sign a non-compete so you will not be able to be employed at any place you trim at without that company paying over a thousand dollars to buy out your contract. I believe this goes away after a long period of time trimming with hemp temps but make sure you read the fine print. You do not learn much on the job. I learned more from a 20 minute YouTube video than I did in months of trimming. Employees do not receive their schedule until around 4 pm the day before shift so it is very difficult to make plans in your personal or professional life. There is also a chance you will be sent home early if your shift is over scheduled so you may not get the hours/pay you are promised. They do not pay a living wage for the area, even if working 6 days a week. High Turnover. I accepted a trimmer position and low pay as a way to enter the industry. I had originally interviewed for an account manager position and was brought in for second interview a few days later to meet to meet with upper management. While I was waiting I was pulled aside by an employee I had not met yet and told that I needed industry experience which is somewhat understandable even though I have multiple degrees and a background which includes diverse sales, management and nonprofit experience. The employee who pulled me aside and told me this said after 30 shifts I would be brought back in to interview for the position again so I accepted the low pay in order to make this happen. When that point came less than 2 months later the position had been filled. I believe they were intentionally deceptive in order to get cheap labor.
