Pros

Hitachi Energy's Summer Internship program is relatively new, but very well thought out and with almost limitless opportunities involved. The Raleigh office is filled with people willing to help and who will go out of their way to advise interns and give them more work when they ask for it. While still team dependent, there hasn't been a single day where I have been bored in my 8 weeks here so far. The office is completely business casual (dress code wise), and you can start up a conversation with just about anyone. I highly recommend this internship. Regarding corporate culture, the overall branding and culture is not overbearing at all and much less than I was expecting given the size of the company and its parent company, Hitachi. If you do well, you're given the opportunity to stay on as a part-time employee in the Fall as well. You have the opportunity to work from home both when you need to and normally 1-2 days a week. Overtime does exist and just has to be approved by your manager. The pay is decent and standardized by year.

Cons

Very few cons. Food in the building can be sparse at times, so you must bring your own lunch. Some interns talk about not having enough work, but this is very team dependent, and you can seek work outside of your team. Onboarding was not great, but most issues are resolved within the first week. Your computer will be a hand-me-down and will likely not work off the charger for more than an hour. You do not get paid holidays or sick days.
