Management is poor as they all think their Gods gift to retail, no room for movement as people cling to their position - Merchandise Coordinator HomeGoods Employee Review

Pros

Job is fairly easy once you get it, hours are decent, and benefits for full-timers are good. Also, not having to work Easter, or Christmas was nice as the store was closed.

Cons

Getting promoted is a lengthy process, the full time staff in most locations hold on to their position for dear life. Management does not do a good job of following up with people who don't do their job well or don't follow rules but will punish those who constantly do well in an effort to "make an example". Also the fact that full time employees are required to have open availability is ridiculous mostly because you're only giving a minimum of 30 hours and it barely goes up from there. If they need to be flexible the company should at least give 40 hours clean.

Pros

it is a job if you desperately need one

Cons

management does not keep promises (e.g. I was promised $2 higher pay upon accepting the position and later was told it wasn't feasible anymore once starting. I was also promised a specific day off then last minute had it revoked because they decided to make it a mandatory day). management does not listen to or care about its employees, very unprofessional. store managers don't want to do anything to help, they just sit in the office. management let other employees slack off and do nothing and expected others to compensate for their lack of effort general manager was horribly rude and misogynistic. he threw a box at someone while visiting.
