Pros
At a low level you get to do your job however you see fit, so on a day-to-day basis you run your own show. The owners basic plan is to hire smart people and let them do their thing, which might be great for some people. If you want to work more as an individual than a team, then this would be perfect.
Cons
Minimal benefits; Compensation plan changes regularly; Freedom without accountability means other people drag the team down; Some low-skilled people are paid too much, which means the money isn't there to pay high-skilled people; Management doesn't really understand what the core workers do, so they are easily swayed by people who strong-arm them; Not really a team atmosphere, and some things really fall apart because of the lack of processes and standards.
