Pros

Good discount on food and beverages in stores, and the pay is better than most places.

Cons

Upper management can be condescending and doesn't know how to do basic tasks that everyone else knows, such as operating a cash register. They change standards every few weeks, causing confusion and making it harder to do the work. There are little to no consequences for calling out, leading many to do so multiple days a week.

Pros

Maybe travel reimbursement, that's really about it. Even then, it's minuscule.

Cons

Organized chaos is the best way to describe it. Corporate constantly rolls out new initiatives and restructures that shift priorities without solving the underlying operational issues. I left before the full HMSHost restructuring took effect, although I was there when it began and the direction was clear. My decision to leave ultimately came down to management support and sustainability. I asked my GM for a more reasonable schedule and received little willingness to help. Combined with the restructuring and day to day operational strain, I had mentally checked out months before I finally resigned. Anyone considering a salaried management role should understand the environment. At Logan Airport, union protections significantly limit management authority over employees. Even when legitimate disciplinary or termination situations arise, the process can become drawn out or ineffective. That dynamic creates a frustrating situation for managers who are still responsible for performance and results. I can only speak to my experience at Logan Airport, but I would strongly caution anyone considering a role here to think carefully. I was earning close to six figures and still chose to leave. For me, the stress and workload simply were not worth it.
