Pros

A few wonderful, compassionate, knowledgable colleagues.

Cons

Unsafely high case loads (some with 120+) clients back to back, no time to build meaningful relationships with clients in 30 mins appointments with data collection targets constantly being pushed in preference of meaningful interventions with clients. Humankind management are only interested in yes men, who offer no challenge to their norm and are very cliquey. If your face doesn’t fit or you’ve been outspoken about issues in service delivery they’ll do their best to force you out. Following TUPE from the nhs last year many good, experienced staff have left being replaced by those with little to no experience who are then rushed to begin case management without adequate training. Managers have little regard for staff well being and often rush to cover up incidents within the staffing team - chastising any member of staff who doesn’t fall in line and implied threats to employment. I feel for the service users of the “charity”, high staff sickness and turnover leads to lack of consistency for clients. Poor leadership leads to non uniform approach and no set procedures for common issues and so mixed messages passed on to clients leading to client frustrations and confusion.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for this service, we value all feedback, both positive and negative to allow us to improve our employee experience and service for those who we support in the community. There are some allegations within your feedback that are extremely concerning and we take these allegations very seriously. As an organisation we prioritise employee wellbeing and provide a free confidential support line for all employees to access for their personal wellbeing. We also review exit interview data regularly to address any areas of concern and the feedback received for this service has not been in line with your experience as detailed. We do have a robust grievance procedure and HR support for all services and there are no current grievances or open complaints that have been raised, therefore I would like to encourage you to raise your concerns formally to allow the organisation the opportunity to investigate and address these claims as appropriate.

Pros

None i can think of at this time

Cons

Waythrough’s recent implementation of new pay scales has completely demoralised frontline staff. It’s utterly disheartening to see central and internal roles receiving pay increases of £3,000–£4,000 (and in some cases, even more), while the organisation continues to refer to frontline staff as the “foundation” of their services. The irony couldn’t be more insulting. Those of us on the frontline aren’t sitting comfortably behind screens — we’re out there every day managing heavy caseloads, supporting individuals with complex, high-risk needs, and carrying immense responsibility. And while doing so, we’re expected to hit unrealistic KPIs that ultimately secure the very contracts funding the wages, roles, and additional increments enjoyed by central services. It’s an absolute slap in the face. Vacancies continue to pile up because the salaries offered for frontline roles are simply uncompetitive, with no tangible reward for retention and no clear progression through the pay scales. The so-called “out-of-cycle” pay review was meaningless — rejected time and again, unless, of course, you happen to hold an executive title. It’s no wonder that many frontline staff, myself included, are now actively seeking alternative employment — and honestly, good luck to every single one of them. The organisation needs to take a long, hard look at its values, because right now, they’re not reflected in how the very people delivering the service are being treated. It’s sad to say, but Waythrough is rapidly losing the respect and loyalty of those who have long carried it on their shoulders.
