Great Place to Work - Product Development Project Manager Hunter Engineering Company Employee Review

Pros

1) Fantastic boss that has actually coached me as opposed to being a boss in name only 2) Plenty of opportunity to provide valuable input and direction on meaningful decisions 3) Tighter coordination with the management level than I have ever experienced in my career 4) Good pay

Cons

Every company has its difficulties. Some of the general struggles that plague growing manufacturing business are present: difficulty in maintaining alignment between HQ and the Mfg sites, project prioritization, etc. However, in my own experience, the pros far outweigh the cons.

Pros

Growing company. Culture is okay in a lot of departments but they can be strangely separated. Meaning - each department sort of has its own culture. Benefits are really good for the most part.

Cons

Career growth is not really a thing in a lot of departments. Its up to the employee to go on their own. Very few seminars, continuing education is offered by leaders. Company is moving toward little collaboration among those that aren't promoted. Operations system workflow apps are updating for each department but are separated. There's been a mass exit of long-term employees in leadership that are in their late 50s and early 60s.

Thank you for your review and comments. I'm sorry to hear you feel there isn't a lot of career growth, and we'd love the opportunity to discuss this with you in more detail. If you are referring to career development, the company offers many opportunities to build your skills through our in-house Learning Management System, instructor-led leadership development courses, and outside industry-specific conferences/seminars. Please reach out to your HR Business Partner if you're interested in discussing these opportunities in more detail. You are also correct, we've been very fortunate to have so many employees enjoy long tenured careers at Hunter, and a few of them have recently chosen to retire. We appreciate their many contributions to the company and wish them well in their next adventures.
