Pros

Benefits, schedule, location, a few honest employees who have remained with the company.

Cons

VP's and the friends hires have no people skills. Key quality for a leader. Front line employees treated as irrelevant and disposable. Could go on but it would be more time wasted. Mr. CEO, all that glitters is not gold!

Of greatest concern to me in this review is ‘front line employees treated as irrelevant and disposable.’ This goes against not only the values of IAT but my personal values. Without our skilled, hard-working front-line team, we wouldn’t be trusted and supported by our customers and our agents. We wouldn’t be improving our claims response time for customers who have been through catastrophes, and we wouldn’t be receiving the positive feedback from our agents for our experienced and responsive underwriting and account management teams. Our front line employees and how they engage and interact with our agents and customers have been the key ingredients to how we have been able to improve our underwriting results over the past few years. Since you’ve been with IAT for more than three years, you know we are accomplishing all this and much more. We have accomplished this by making some changes. Many of those changes have come from the very thoughtful feedback we receive from our employee surveys. In fact we will be having an all employee call at the end of this month to share our action plan in response to the suggestions we received on our recent employee engagement survey of which 87% of our employees responded. Hopefully you will be able to join that call. We’ve added many new programs for employees including the launch of IAT University focusing on training and career development. We’ve distributed more in bonuses to our front line employees the past two years, than we have in the company’s history. We’ve expanded our communication on a number of fronts and continue to seek and respond to employee feedback routinely. Our employees are valued and appreciated. They are the reason we are succeeding. If there are managers who act as if employees are irrelevant and disposable, I urge you to contact me or HR.

Pros

Extremely generous 401k match, great amount of PTO (even as a new employee), College Loan Payment Assistance (Yes, you read that right! It's unique and amazing). Days are busy with engaging and interesting work but hours are typically fairly regular, leaving sufficient time and personal capacity to fully enjoy my life outside of work - great balance which is one of the things I enjoy most about working at IAT! Most of claims is now on one amazing claim system - state of the art! Fantastic progress vs. just a few years ago when IAT claims was working in numerous outdated, difficult systems.

Cons

Small company which can feel a bit limiting in terms of career path. However, IAT really leverages every opportunity to help employees have their desired careers, switch lines of business, etc. Small down side relative to the many advantages of working for IAT.
