Pros

None, not any more, not in its current state under the current ownership

Cons

They keep making terrible hiring decisions, sometimes I wonder what planet they all live on. There is something not quite right at Newsweek, there is no development support, no encouragement, no bonuses, expenses are often scrutinized and late. Some awful decisions made out of greed have jeopardized the future of an iconic brand. In the scheme of things, they've only had it a short period, but have manage to thoroughly and publicly embarrass it on more than one occasion.

Pros

Since I've been here for a while, my POV may be much different than someone who just started. I find there's a lot of freedom for people who have been here a while, especially on my vertical - I know other verticals don't have it as easy even if they've been working here a while. But its not that hard to learn the loopholes of the place and make them work to your benefit. It's pretty easy to work from home and a lot of people abuse it with no consequences.

Cons

If you're not white or male, over 30 or don't have an Ivy League pedigree you're going to get treated like crap. When I started this place was somewhat diverse, but now the majority of the editors are old white men and there are barely even any reporters of color or culture. There is no growth opportunities - in fact, most of the young editors have been demoted and pushed out.
