Pros
Excellent leadership -- the company is founder-owned and founder-led, meaning they can grow their business at the pace they feel comfortable with, instead of always having to chase the expectations of some private equity investor with slicked-back hair and a degree from Wharton. The president and CEO even still checks in new code occasionally, and I respect leaders who are highly engaged and lead their teams from the front. There's a ton of potential in the technology and in the business, and it's really cool to see some of the new features they're working on and the new markets they're exploring. Company culture is reminiscent of a startup: relaxed and informal, with employees allowed to wear shorts and sandals if they want unless clients are visiting. Most of my coworkers were extremely friendly and helpful in orienting me to the terrain. Catered lunches on Fridays and a beer fridge. Competitive pay and benefits. Definitely an outstanding opportunity if you're a recent grad, and also pretty good if you're more established in your career but you're looking for a reprieve from the typical corporate IT environment.
Cons
There is almost zero formal training, so you need to be inquisitive and motivated. Also: it's an open office plan with huge windows, high ceilings, exposed ductwork, and no walls, so it's basically a big distraction factory and can make it difficult for introverts to stay focused.
