Pros

This review is for Impact Hub in Austin, TX The only saving graces about working at Impact Hub were: 1. I got to meet great people who co-worked out of the space. It attracts social enterprises and people who genuinely want to make the world a better place. 2. Creative interior design.

Cons

This review is for Impact Hub Austin, TX Impact Hub Austin has an unhealthy work environment and I strongly urge anyone who is considering a staff position there to proceed with extreme caution. It’s a shame that Impact Hub Austin doesn’t live up to its publicly espoused values. If it did, it would be an awesome place to work. It’s also ironic that a company that claims to be a hub for the “movement for good” treats its employees with such disrespect. These are the challenges I experienced: -Employees were not paid on time or are asked to accept deferred payment due to budgeting issues -Employee concerns and challenges were never acknowledged or addressed. -Sexist undertones -There was an over-emphasis on smiling, sharing feelings, and being vulnerable. -People who were not excessively cheerful or optimistic were dismissed as “poor culture fits”
-There was not enough value on professionalism, punctuality, work ethics, clear communication, and high quality deliverables.
-Supervisor was rude, egotistical, patronizing, judgmental, and disrespectful  -Dissenting or opposing views were deemed inappropriate -Supervisor did not provide specific feedback -Employee roles, responsibilities and expectations were nonexistent or shifting and contradictory -Tasks were micromanaged -High staff turnover rate made it challenging to build moment and team rapport
