Cons
The “product” lacks clarity and the work environment is unprofessional at best. Managers and C-suite disagree on whether the company is R&D or production-focused, and some insist it’s both - and this is after existing for 10 years. Some, though not all, majority demographic individuals think of the office as a comfortable setting to discuss political and philosophical opinions. Conversations will include racist, classist, xenophobic, homophobic, and sexist ideologies. Any pushback is typically rebuked with some version of, “not everyone is going to be comfortable all the time here.” A number of upper-level managers encourage other employees to be rude or disrespectful to employees that they dislike, and will occasionally publicly shame the less popular employees for professional or personal shortcomings. Extreme nepotism and academic elitism almost invariably trump competence and experience. There is no HR person and no legitimate structure for handling conflicts.
