Pros
After working in Ingenico almost everything else will seem like heaven to you! Some nice people work there, office is ok.
Cons
As an engineer you will not be able to do your work normally in Ingenico. Most of your time will be spent dealing with 50 different managers or directors and filling some meaningless documents and forms or being dragged to the meetings. Most important thing is that the numbers look good, doesn’t matter how much of actual value was delivered. To click a simple deploy button you will have to create few separate tasks and documents and gather 4 different approvals. And nobody might even care that button was not actually clicked as chain of responsibility is lost. They hire special agile coaches to tell them how to do “devops” and don’t want to ask developers. There is a fundamental lack of trust from management into their own employees, and every achievement is presented as manager’s. You are not allowed to have your opinion and you are not allowed to be “unhappy”. Technically company is widely outdated although engineers are trying their best under the circumstances such as constant business pressure and vicious priority cycle (they even have 2 lists of different priorities for the same teams). But after some time of resistance and not getting anywhere everyone is just loosing motivation. For an engineer Ingenico is the place to spend last few years before the retirement, otherwise you will find yourself way behind on the technical skills and in difficulty to find a new job after. Also new “career path” system will guarantee that only manager favorites will be promoted.
